Yadkin Valley Public Transportation Program
Yadkin Valley Public Transportation is a regional transportation system operated by Yadkin Valley Economic Development District Inc. and N. C. Department of Transportation/Public Transportation Division. We provide community and public transportation services in Davie, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin Counties .

Cost of Transportation
Elderly and Disabled
Grants received from the N. C. Department of Transportation assist Elderly and Disabled individuals with their transportation costs. Individuals qualified for these programs are asked to make a “cost share donation” of $2.00 per round trip to offset the cost and extend the service.
Rural General Public
Any resident of the service area may schedule a ride for themselves at the reduced cost of $.60 cents per vehicle mile through the “Rural General Public” program. Whenever possible, ridesharing is used to reduce each passenger’s trip cost.
Contracted Transportation Services
Contracted transportation services are available to agencies and organizations at our full cost of $1.10 per vehicle mile plus fuel surcharge.

Vehicle Operator Training and Certification
Our Vehicle Operators provide “door to door” service for the passengers we transport, including assistance with bags or parcels. They also receive extensive training in the following:
- Defensive Driving
- Passenger Assistance Techniques
- First Aid and CPR
In addition to the training requirements, Yadkin Valley Public Transportation uses substance abuse testing as a condition of employment as required by Federal Transit Regulations. Criminal background and driver’s license checks are performed annually on all Drivers.
Anyone wishing to schedule transportation should call their county Dispatch Office. 24-hour notice is required with additional notice for some programs.
