YVEDDI Public Transportation is a regional transportation system operated by Yadkin Valley Economic Development District, Inc. and the North Carolina Department of Transportation/Public Transportation Division.  We provide community and public transportation services in Davie, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin Counties.

Due to limited resources, all trips provided are based on availability of funds and  vehicles.

Any resident within YVEDDI’s Public Transportation service area may schedule a personal trip at the cost (each way) of:

$2.00 (each way) in town (Mount Airy, Elkin, Mocksville, Danbury and Yadkinville only)
$3.00 (each way) in County
$5/$10/$15 (each way) out of county, depending on mileage

Due to limited resources, all trips provided are based on availability of funds and vehicles.

Elderly & Disabled
NC Department of Transportation provides grant money to assist the Elderly and Disabled individuals with transportation cost.  Qualified individuals are requested to make a cost share donation of $2 per round trip to offset the cost and extend the service.

Contracted Transportation Services
Contracted transportation services are available to agencies, organizations and companies at a per vehicle mile cost.  Contact Dispatcher for details.

Our Fleet
YVEDDI Public Transportation provides safe, door-to-door service in or out of town for residents of Davie, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin counties.  Our fleet of more than 62 vehicles is constantly updated with newer make and model vehicles for our passengers’ safety.

Safety Record/Driver Training
YVEDDI Public Transportation made more than 113,000 trips in 2019 with a total of 1.5 million miles driven.  With 50 years of service, our safety record is unmatched.  Our drivers are:

  • Trained in First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving,  Passenger Assistance Techniques and Emergency Procedures
  • Drug Free
  • Criminal Background Approved
  • Legal Residents of the United States of America

6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Service is available by appointment for weekends and holidays.
Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Enrolled Clients
To schedule a trip, contact the Call Center at (336) 679-2071 and enter Option 3.
*When you are ready to be picked up for a return trip home, contact the Call Center at (336) 679-2071 and enter option 2. 

Please call Dispatch immediately if:
  • Your appointment will take longer than 2 hours
  • If you are relocated to a different area
  • If you find other transportation or will not be going home.
